Assignment 1: Design Analysis, Domain Name

My chosen 3 websites:

Sasha Samsonova  http://samsonovasasha.com

The website opens with the opening page being an overview of some of the work Sasha has done.
It’s a mix of all her work from all of the categories in the header above. The website background is
white and the layout is organized in different sized rectangles and squares of her images, with about
five images on each row. When you hover your mouse over an image, it tells you what/who the work
was done for.

At the top of the screen there are categories for her images which is what allows you to navigate around
the website. The logo is on the left top corner of the website in black font. It contains her full name and below
it is her title, in this case being photographer/director. All the typography including her logo is simple, sans serif
font and looks very similar to arial font. Her name is bold whereas her title is in light font and her categories are
in very light font.

I like the simplicity of the site and how everything is organized visually but in a very straightforward manner.
The element of how the pictures are displayed all alongside each other allowing you to scroll through them all is
something I find appealing and would use on my website.

Michel Cloutier https://michelcloutier.com/
Michel Cloutier’s website opens to the main page being a short promo video showcasing the fashion photography
that he does. You can navigate through the website by clicking on one of the categories displayed horizontally on
the top of the screen, directly under his name. Clicking on one of the categories brings you to another page with
multiple images of his work displayed in different sizes throughout the webpage. Michel also has a category where
he describes who is and what he does, accompanied by an image of himself.

His logo, being his full name, is at the top of the webpage and is directly in the middle. The categories are aligned
directly under his name/logo and are slightly smaller in size than his name. The background of the website is light
grey and the font is black. The font he chose is a very simple, light sans serif font. The font of his name/logo is
slightly bolder than the font of the categories, but not by too much.

I like how his website opens with an introductory video to him and what he does. It shows the viewer that he is
a fashion photographer and it creates more interest to go through his work. I like this element of incorporating
video to introduce my work and I would do this as well on my own website.

Emilie Tournevache https://www.tournevache.com/

Emilie Tournevache’s website is very minimal and opens to her images displayed in rows of the three that you can
scroll through. The images are all vertical and are all aligned to be the same size. Under each image is the title of
the work and the client. When you click on one of the images, it brings you to a page with a few images from the
shoot. They are all large and are aligned one on top of the other on the left side of the page with a bit of information
on the shoot in the right corner next to the large image.

She has a large bold “E” logo in the top left corner of the website, and her categories are in small, light, sans serif
font in the top right corner of the page. Her full name isn’t displayed on the website anywhere except for in the
“bio” category. All the font is very minimal and simplistic to match the feel of the whole website.

Emilie has a contact page where clients can easily give their name, email and message directly through her
website, making it easier for them. I would include this on my website because it makes it more convenient for
clients to contact me.

My hypothetical domain name:
